Day 66

October 31st, 2014

Star burst red and yellow fire. EPS 8“Where there is no imagination there is no horror.” ~ Arthur Conan Doyle, Sr. This quote reminds me of my childhood. I had (and still have) a vivid imagination. I loved to make up stories and create characters for my own entertainment. Because of my vivid imagination, I often had nightmares after watching programs like “The Twilight Zone” and “The Alfred Hitchcock Show.”  At some point, my mother prohibited me from watching those programs. That was okay except my best friend loved horror movies and we went to Saturday matinees every week. I would sit with my eyes covered through much of the movie, but I didn’t mind because I was with my bestie. This came to a halt when we attended the movie, “The Blob” with Steve McQueen. That evening after watching the movie, I had the worst nightmare ever. I awoke in a sweat and my bedroom was bloody red! I screamed bloody murder and awakened the entire family. That put an end to my watching horror movies. I loved my bestie, but even I had to admit that my imagination is too vivid for horror movies. I can still look on those days and that friendship and smile because of the bond we had formed. It was a lesson learned that I carry with me until this day. And therein lies my Joy.
