Influences

I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. I’ve often wondered when or where it all began. What were the building blocks that established the foundation for my love of words? Was it learned? Was it inherited? Was it a combination of both?

I remember the Bible verse, (Proverbs 18:16 – NKJV) “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” I didn’t know that verse as a child, but I remember that at the age of 4 or 5 I had a miniature record player and several yellow, gold, and orange records that played nursery rhymes; and I played them hour after hour. I loved the nursery rhymes. I loved the way the words danced through my head in their syncopated rhythms.

Those nursery rhymes became my foundation for the poetry and short stories that I write today. My surroundings also influenced my gift. I knew that my mother enjoyed writing. Her love for words is the reason I had the record player and nursery rhyme recordings. My uncle was a self-taught artist. I later learned that my grand-mother and great-grand-mother wrote poetry and that my grand-father wrote for a local newspaper.

I’ve learned that my gift will make room for me as long as I exercise my gift. Are you exercising your gift? Do you need help to reach your greatest level in your gift? Castle Virtual Solutions LLC can help you reach those heights because Your Success Is My Goal!!
